Last night I went to a Thai restaurant with my project team. It was one of the first of many outings we planned to kick off the holiday celebration. This particular restaurant in the exchange district was plan B, everyone’s favorite was closed for the holidays. At least some of my team members have been to this place and they think it offers similar experience. I was the last guy to join the team as I was running status report for end of day. I walked in 30 minutes late and thought people would have placed order but to my surprise they are still waiting for an attendant to take their orders. Nevertheless, we pre-booked earlier and confirmed our reservation.
Shortly the attendant came by to take orders and apologized for the lackluster customer service. We all took our orders. I ordered shrimp rolls and the Vietnamese pho with 10/10 spice. And there we are, chatting and exchanging friendly vibes expecting orders to come by at most in 30 minutes. To our utmost surprise, we did not have orders fulfilled until 90 minutes later. I was dying of hunger, the vibes were not sufficient to harness those pangs in my stomach. (more…)
“I want to eat my cake and have it’, this is what a HR manager said when referring to the new influx of millennial generations they have to hire to replace retiring baby boomers. He described them as opportunistic driven and ill-mannered crop of hippies with the trademark ‘I want it my way, don’t get in my way’.
Who are the millennial generation? Millennial generation refers to those born between early 80’s and the new millennial, year 2000. Neil Howe and William Strauss, authors of the 1991 book Generations: The History of America’s Future, 1584 to 2069, are often credited with coining the term. They are also called generation Y, trophy generation, newcomers, digital generation, new age generation, generation Me, Peter pan or Boomerang generation.
What is particular about this generation? They have become increasingly important because they are the most educated, trendy, exposed, technology savvy and toughest generation to manage when compared with baby boomers (born between 1946 – 1964), Generation X (1965 – 1979) and even Generation Z (2000 to present day). Millennials (or generation Y) have become a dominant force in the labor market and recently become the largest share of the American workforce according to new Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. The pivotal seat of human senses is built in her emotional spectrum. The emotions each of us exhibit defines us. Our emotions flows from the sinews of our thoughts, how we process events and what we hope to either interpret, express or achieve by certain mode of actions. The concept of intelligence has recently shifted from the sole concept of academic prowess, street wisdom, technical developed skills or naturally in-grained talents; to emotional intelligence. Talent is not enough for would-be successful manager of people and life’s events. Life events can be predicted but the turn of events is a grey matter. So are people, they change, evolve and distort unannounced.
As we are all different people with different finger prints, so are our emotional configurations. We have folks with weak emotions, those with no emotions and the rest with strong emotions. Recognizing this fact helps you deal with people in different scenarios. A lot of people act on impulse while few take rational decision based on well driven thought process. This is highly impacted by each individual’s emotional configurations.
I love being the child
Babies never have to cook or clean up
They are catered for every single hour
I want to be carried over and swung every time
I love every morning ritual
Bathed for, cared for, dressed for….

According to Mozart ‘Love is the soul of the genius’. As Homo sapiens we were conceived from a love conjunction of two individuals that we call ‘birth parents’. We were made in love and live for love. We crave for love and had to share love ourselves. Love keeps the human race orbiting. The genius in us is being called out when we are arrested by the divinity of love.
Since we are birth by love, we daily seek love. Before the age of social media, we seek to satisfy this crave for love by being vocal about it and making our intentions known by different cues in popular culture. In recent, the advent of technology has made the onerous task seem invincible where you can easily drive love by the number of text characters, type of emoticons and smileys in a person’s status update on a social media tool. I once heard the parrots in a neighbor’s main lobby whisper that legacy is for the blind. I tried to reason like I always do with species beneath human best intelligence. But then, I was so furious I want to get into the discussion and have a debate like one of them “fellas”.
The unthoughtful may choose to forget, the careless care less anyways, the hardened may block reasoning, or newbies become blind to the sacrifices of past heroes but history will never forget those who fought hard for what we all enjoy even if taken for granted. Time passes all and moments speed by our notice but history will always remember those who fought hard, not the chickens. (more…)
It was a sunny day in Japuta, an island north of the fossil mountains. There goes a young hunter named Nick arriving from a five days sojourn in the forest. He lived beside the dark forest which leads to the greenest meadows and gargantuan fountain with the purest water you ever found. But no one dare go through the dark forest except you are on a suicide mission. The forest in recent times became the dwelling of wild life including cat family, reptiles and bears. In the time past, it was not so. Most residents where farmers, hunters, scavengers and adventurers. They were able to create a formidable network of fighters and artisans who designed and built a path through the dark forest that no wild life can penetrate.
Nick as a young hunter is a descendant of the first chief hunter in Japuta. He possesses accurate marksmanship, steel, rugged and able to dissolve threat easily. He survives by hunting game, nuts, berries and rummaging the forest for vintage treasures. He was being courted by many young women. He often tells them story of his different conquests and how beautiful the pasture and fountain beyond the dangerous dark forest of Japuta. He alone goes into the dark forest and hunt as civilization made residents to turn back on such venture and thus, redirected their wards to western education. (more…)
There is strength in bravery
The wisdom of fowl is cock and roost
The mandate of man is ‘to conquer’
We are not fowl, we transcends all
Do not sleep in danger of your office
Our role is to rise above all encumbrances.
It is the beginning of spring down here south and I joined the fellas for a game of soccer for the first time in the year. I noticed changes in people and the vibe was different compared to the previous season. Halfway into our warm-ups, a fight ensued between two ladies who came to cheer their man friends. I was flabbergasted that two young ladies in their twenties who appeared decent in demeanor could result into fatal violence in open field. We paused the session to stop the scuffle but it seems a larger sect would like to see the end of the fight. In fact, it was like a round match of women UFC match, only that I do not think these ones have insurance to cover injuries suffered from broken bottles.
There it dawned on me that everything is mathematics. Mathematics resolve truth by seeking out patterns, permutations, shapes, motions, logic, structure, change, space,… probability. (more…)
