On a hill far away stood my rescue team!
I am being caged in a makeshift hole where I took temporary residence as a result of a civil war unrest in my town. I struggled with malnutrition, pain, physical injuries and untold darkness. My life is missing from reality and reality is shifted from my life. It seems I had no control, writhing in my pain, I lost all hope. I heard there is a rescue team, it was all a rumor, and my day never met the savior. I want to believe a lie to lift my spirit but all I hear is the sound of war and the resulting casualties. My city is destroyed, my mind is distraught and my hope is dead. No tales by the moonlight, no soccer, no more amusement, no more happiness. I dreamt the end but I went through hell. May be, there is a life after death, this is looking like death after life and seems I am running someone else’s script.
My loss was my all but my all is gone. I never stood a chance, and see my very existence zapped from me. But on the very day I was going to bid time the longest bye, I became woken. I took to conference my faculty and my heart. I spoke to myself, “there is no fancy way to die, but I can create my own fantasy”. I am crippled with fear, wounded in body, and sullen in feelings but all I am doing is fulfilling another man’s script. I can write my own script and be the main act. Be it as it may, re-write defeated by uncontrollable circumstances but redirected by the will of my power and exertion of strength. By this very act, I survived till the rescue team came. This is the game changer! You are the script and the play. The real defeat is not what happens to us but what happens within us.
Where are we? My niece once asked me when driving across town to visit a relative. I looked bemused. Didn’t I tell you we are going to see a family relative and it’s a 2 hours drive. Why is she asking where are we? I replied we are in Jupiter. We live through life and forget that we are traveling across ages. Life is fast and fast is life. We are experiencing an explosion of knowledge, technology, complex social challenges and weather climate change. There are more changes in this era than all the previous era combined (the stone age, machine age, industrial revolution, modern and post-modern). I am not sure what to call the present. There is no present anymore, it is the future.
The change we are talking about is not a new change, but this rate of change is speeding up. The world is changing at accelerated change. Transportation, telecommunications, housing, schooling, government, media, and enterprise…. everything is changing too soon. Can you picture what your current career was like in ten years ago, do you notice any changes? Now expect triple the changes in the next ten years. Are you ready for it or you are just there waiting for retirement? Unexpectedly, folks get laid-off while just waiting. In this new world order, you don’t sit there and just wait, even waiters and waitress have mobility. Nokia, the biggest telephone company in the world in the 90’s was caught off-guard by just waiting. They did nothing wrong but before countdown to sunrise they were out of business in the new millenium. (more…)

We are all on the run; the highway of life
Some navigating to the bypass of “nothingness”
Some are stuck in the junction
While a few did made it home
One runner said “look here for a moment”
Mother “I made it”, yay “I nailed it”
…And it was worth it but I’ve seen terrible things
Many things trouble me but these few give me more concern
The nude lady who moans of being catcalled
The poor says if I am rich
The rich says when I am rich
The poor says it has never been done before
The rich says it can be done
The poor always see a problem
The rich always see opportunities
The poor entertains fear
The rich exercise faith
The poor says I cannot invest
The rich says how can I invest
The poor bows at first attempt
The rich keep pushing for success
The poor says “all things are done, nothing is new”
The rich looks for ways to innovate on existing ideas
The poor spends all his income
The rich understands the rule of compound interest
The poor is always waiting for the next paycheck
The rich is working on the next million dollar idea
The poor only remembers “the love of money is the root of all evil”
The rich knows “the lack of money is the scheme of the devil”

The beautiful thing about life is that we can share our entire life with the love of our life. Relationship often goes in cycle and needs to be balanced to have continuity. What and who is most important person in our life will drive the need to have a relationship in the first place. As all relationship, for it to work, we must be working at it constantly. “I want to eat my cake and have it’, this is what a HR manager said when referring to the new influx of millennial generations they have to hire to replace retiring baby boomers. He described them as opportunistic driven and ill-mannered crop of hippies with the trademark ‘I want it my way, don’t get in my way’.
Who are the millennial generation? Millennial generation refers to those born between early 80’s and the new millennial, year 2000. Neil Howe and William Strauss, authors of the 1991 book Generations: The History of America’s Future, 1584 to 2069, are often credited with coining the term. They are also called generation Y, trophy generation, newcomers, digital generation, new age generation, generation Me, Peter pan or Boomerang generation.
What is particular about this generation? They have become increasingly important because they are the most educated, trendy, exposed, technology savvy and toughest generation to manage when compared with baby boomers (born between 1946 – 1964), Generation X (1965 – 1979) and even Generation Z (2000 to present day). Millennials (or generation Y) have become a dominant force in the labor market and recently become the largest share of the American workforce according to new Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. Governance in the 21st century has become a playground for who has the ball rolling. There was a time in the world where we were all ruled by a sect. The selected few had to come from a given family name and history. It has nothing to do about the “best hand of rule” but the willful sovereignty of the sect. As the human race evolved through civilization and modernization, the Greek first demonstrated representative democracy in the 6th century as a political system of government.
Centuries past by, new world leaders have emerged from Egypt to Italy to England to Germany and now United States of America. Apparently as the lion of the western world, America has been characterized as the main proponent of democracy in the rule of nations. Concurrently we have a political system that is always ready to provoke change and challenge the norm. What could not have been possible in ages past is fast becoming living realities.
A man whose lineage charts from the shores of Kenya, an African country located on the equator with the Indian Ocean has become the leader of the free world. Obama currently presides over the lion of western world. He is the president, a very diplomatic terrain as the current world leader compared to steel and iron rule of Alexander the great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon and Hitler. With this undertaking, many have desired to ascend unto same throne. If Obama who could as well pass as a commoner in the empire days sit on throne, then it is an open playground for anyone who can get the ball rolling. (more…)
