It is the beginning of spring down here south and I joined the fellas for a game of soccer for the first time in the year. I noticed changes in people and the vibe was different compared to the previous season. Halfway into our warm-ups, a fight ensued between two ladies who came to cheer their man friends. I was flabbergasted that two young ladies in their twenties who appeared decent in demeanor could result into fatal violence in open field. We paused the session to stop the scuffle but it seems a larger sect would like to see the end of the fight. In fact, it was like a round match of women UFC match, only that I do not think these ones have insurance to cover injuries suffered from broken bottles.

There it dawned on me that everything is mathematics. Mathematics resolve truth by seeking out patterns, permutations, shapes, motions, logic, structure, change, space,… probability. Through computation, a person can solve the riddle of toxic relationship, delayed gratifications, deformed governance, office politics, health issues and social issues. This has nothing to do with actual algorithm of numbers or drawing of chi-square or finding the regression pattern on a linear axis. This I refer to as mathematics by picture. You can picture an abusive relationship before it eats you out. How? match the motions in play of the other party, pay attention to their level of tolerance and match this to your level of comfort. If that equation do not balance, do not suffer long in that relationship. Change your variable from dependent object to independent object and find other matching objects.

The fight on the turf had me thinking on the kind of adults these young birds are going to be who seem to have resort to violence at the slightest spiral of emotions. That is not good mathematics knowing that you can cause an irrecoverable scar on your body or go to prison if caught by law enforcement officers or charged for aggravated assault. The options you have are quite slim. Surrounded by friends and colleagues in the public eye, you risk jail term, suspension, scars, reputation damage, loss of self-worth etc. What could be the possible gain? Just to unleash the dragon I guess. Even Khaleesi the mother of dragons is finding ways to tame her dragons. Tame your dragons, be a student of mathematics.

Being a student of mathematics, you can calculate probabilities of events, cause and effect relationship of your actions, employ logic and listen to the voice of reasoning and do not ignore what history has to say. Be a good student of life mathematics, everything is mathematics.
