Adulthood is not age 18 above, adults are people who can fess up and create the world they want and yet ready to take responsibilities for the choices they make in life. Maturity is not age, it is ability to express oneself within the bounds of dignity. In fact, there is no such thing as maturity, we are constantly evolving. WORK

He who must eat, must work. When you are younger probably you couldn’t care less about work. Dad and mum or the social service must provide food on the table. When you become a full adult, time for play dials down. If we sleep for 30% of our lives, you can imagine we probably work more, for at least 35% if you are lucky. Adulthood sometimes looks like a prankster, it just tricks you. Before you say Jack Robinson, you got dunked!

STOP PLAYING GAMES

Stop playing games with your career, studies and relationship. A solid adult knows better than to continue to play games with his or her life. There are some mistakes that are forgiving and recoverable when you are younger but as you become an adult you do not want to mess everything up. This affects your choice of career, friends, activities, partner etc. Once you get in, it may not be that easy to start all over again.

HAVE SEX

Sex is good. The feeling alone is a fire crust in the deepest expression of emotions. Women needs to fill loved, men needs to have sex. Age 18 is not only a license to smoke and be a city-wide juvenile but at that age you become fully sexually active. You have seen the sexual troubles teenagers go through in Hollywood blockbuster –‘American Pie’. You feel you are about to unleash and relish but far from it.

Matured adults have sex because it is part of a continuous human experience. Anyone can have sex, but adults have it more, without rebuttal or being arrested. Now who do you have sex with? Responsible adults have a partner which will be mostly your wife or husband where the bond of marriage has given you unlimited license to shag endlessly. Yes I know you are an adult, but when it’s just dog shag dog sexual relationship, in my opinion it is demeaning.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITIES

Adult take responsibilities. That I know for sure! The word ‘responsibility’ is a portmanteau of two words ‘response’ and ‘ability’. As an adult you have the ability to respond either positively or negatively to the issues around. Adult take responsibilities for their mistakes, family and loved ones. With your bag loads of responsibilities, you don’t moan or cringe about it. You always manage the situation. If you fail at your responsibilities, you’re no adult, you’re a child with an adult age.

PAY BILLS

No more pocket money or government monthly spending tips and it is expected you are fully grown up and be self-sustained. I miss my childhood when I always craw to my dad for all my financial worries. I never asked how we pay house rent or utility bills. I couldn’t care less, but him just buy me a new pair of Jordan, so I can represent in high school. What has firefighter got to do with Ebola?

Adult pay bills, and taxes as well. You cannot escape both except you reside in penitentiary. Bills! Bills!! Bills!!! It is not funny but as an adult you use the rest of your life to pay bills. When you retire, your bills do not.
